# MCP guide

> MCP lets your assistant call the Brazilian APIs on its own, without you writing the request. Copy the config beside this, restart the tool and ask it for a postal code — there are {mcp} MCP guides plus {rest} over REST, for the tools that don't speak the protocol yet.

## Addresses

- **MCP server:** `https://mcp.apibrasil.cloud/mcp` — For AI assistants and editors, over an SSE session.
- **REST gateway:** `https://gateway.apibrasil.io/api/v2` — For webhooks, automations and any HTTP client.

## Guides by category (10, 6 MCP)

### [IDEs and editors](https://doc.apibrasil.io/mcp/ide-editores.md) (3)

- [Python](https://doc.apibrasil.io/mcp/programacao/python.md): Official Python SDK, with asyncio for modern apps — Medium, connects to the MCP server

### [AI clients](https://doc.apibrasil.io/mcp/clientes-ai.md) (1)

Connect AI assistants such as Claude Desktop and ChatGPT straight to the APIBrasil APIs

- [Claude Desktop](https://doc.apibrasil.io/mcp/clientes-ai/claude-desktop.md): Anthropic's AI assistant, with native MCP support — Easy, connects to the MCP server

### [Automation](https://doc.apibrasil.io/mcp/automacao.md) (1)

Automate workflows with low-code and no-code tools over MCP

- [n8n](https://doc.apibrasil.io/mcp/automacao/n8n.md): Open-source workflow automation platform — Easy, calls the REST gateway over HTTP

### [Cloud platforms](https://doc.apibrasil.io/mcp/plataformas-cloud.md) (1)

Ship to and integrate with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, Vercel and Cloudflare

- [Vercel](https://doc.apibrasil.io/mcp/plataformas-cloud/vercel.md): Deployment platform for Next.js and serverless — Medium, calls the REST gateway over HTTP

## MCP or REST?

MCP keeps one session open and carries context between calls; REST treats every request as the first. Not every tool speaks MCP — when yours doesn't, the gateway solves the same problem.

| Feature | MCP | REST |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Connection state | Stateful — session kept open over SSE | Stateless — request and response stand alone |
| Protocol | SSE (Server-Sent Events) | Plain HTTP |
| Best for | AI agents, IDEs, continuous context | Webhooks, simple integrations, serverless |
| Context | Carries context between calls | Every request is independent |
| Latency | Lower after the first connection | Consistent on every request |
| Use cases | Claude Desktop, Cursor, conversational assistants | Public APIs, webhooks, HTTP integrations |
| Complexity | Medium — needs a compatible client | Low — any HTTP client |
| Scalability | Connections held per session | Highly scalable |
