# Claude Desktop

## Prerequisites

- Claude Desktop app installed
- An active APIBrasil account

## Configuration

- **File:** `claude_desktop_config.json`

## Step by step

1. **Find the configuration file** — Mac: `~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json`
   Windows: `%APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json`
   Linux: `~/.config/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json`
2. **Edit the configuration file** — Open the file in your editor of choice and add the MCP server configuration
   ```json

         "url": "https://mcp.apibrasil.cloud/mcp"

   ```
3. **Confirm the MCP endpoint** — Make sure the configured endpoint is exactly https://mcp.apibrasil.cloud/mcp
4. **Restart Claude Desktop** — Quit Claude Desktop completely and open it again so it picks up the configuration
5. **Check the connection** — Ask Claude "which MCP tools do you have available?" — the APIBrasil APIs should be in the list
6. **Try an API** — Ask Claude: "look up postcode 01310-100" and watch it reach for the MCP on its own

## Troubleshooting

- **Claude does not see the MCP server** — Check that the configuration file is in the right place and that the JSON is well formed — no trailing commas
- **Authentication error** — Confirm that your APIBrasil account is active and that MCP access is enabled on it
- **The MCP server never shows up in Claude** — Quit Claude Desktop completely, reopen it, and check the JSON for syntax errors
- **Claude reports a timeout** — The MCP server may be overloaded or down. Check the status at https://status.apibrasil.com.br
