# Zed Editor

> Set up Zed Editor, which speaks MCP natively, to reach the APIBrasil APIs from inside the fastest editor around.

- **Category:** IDEs and editors
- **Difficulty:** Easy
- **Protocol:** connects to the MCP server
- **Updated on:** January 14, 2026

## Prerequisites

- Zed Editor installed (version 0.120+)
- Access to the APIBrasil MCP

## Configuration

- **File:** `settings.json`

```json
{
  "mcp": {
    "servers": {
      "https://mcp.apibrasil.cloud/mcp": {
        "name": "APIBrasil MCP",
        "url": "https://mcp.apibrasil.cloud/mcp"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

## Step by step

1. **Open the Zed settings** — Press Cmd/Ctrl + , or go to Zed > Settings > Open Settings
2. **Add the MCP configuration** — In settings.json, add an 'mcp' section with the APIBrasil server
   ```json
   {
     "mcp": {
       "servers": {
         "https://mcp.apibrasil.cloud/mcp": {
           "name": "APIBrasil MCP",
           "url": "https://mcp.apibrasil.cloud/mcp"
         }
       }
     }
   }
   ```
3. **Check the MCP endpoint** — Confirm the endpoint is right: https://mcp.apibrasil.cloud/mcp
4. **Restart Zed** — Quit and reopen Zed so it loads the new configuration
5. **Check the MCP status** — The bottom-right corner should show the MCP server as connected
6. **Use it in the Assistant** — Open the Zed Assistant (Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + A) and ask it to call an APIBrasil API

## Troubleshooting

- **The MCP server never shows up** — Check that you are on Zed 0.120 or newer. Older versions do not support MCP fully
  ```
  # Verificar versão:
  zed --version
  ```
- **The server fails to start** — Read the logs at View > Debug > MCP Logs for the details of the failure
- **Configuration error in settings.json** — Go over the JSON and check for trailing commas or missing braces
- **The tokens are not recognised** — Avoid smart quotes and invisible characters. Copy the tokens straight from the APIBrasil platform
